Create a delivery note or packing slip

A draft filled in from the quote or invoice. Change what is different about this delivery, then click Create. Nothing is saved until you do.

In the app: New delivery note or packing slip

Lines and quantities

Every line from the quote or invoice is here. Ordered is the quantity in Xero and cannot be changed. Dispatched is what goes out on this delivery, and starts equal to Ordered.

  • Dispatched can be any number from zero up, with up to four decimal places.
  • More than ordered shows a warning but is allowed.
  • A line dispatched at zero stays on the document but is left off the PDF.
  • You cannot add lines that are not on the quote or invoice.

Priced or not

Tick Priced to show unit prices, line totals, subtotal, tax and total, in the currency of the quote or invoice and using its figures. Untick it and the document shows no money at all. A delivery note starts priced and a packing slip starts unpriced. You can change this later while the document is still editable.

Date and template

Dispatch date starts as today. Change it if the goods leave on another day.

Template is your default template unless you pick another. If the template has custom fields, they appear here so you can change their values for this document only.

Receiver, email and addresses

  • Receiver name and phone come from the contact's main person and phone in Xero.
  • Customer email comes from the contact. The signed copy is emailed here after the receiver signs. Leave it blank and no email is sent.
  • Billing address is the contact's postal address. Delivery address is the contact's street address, or the billing address if there is none.

Change any of these freely. Your changes stay on this document. Nothing is written back to Xero.

Notes

Anything you type in Notes prints on the document. Use it for driver instructions or handling notes.

If the quote or invoice changed just now

The draft uses the copy Deliverta already holds, so it opens at once. The time of the last update is shown at the top. Click Refresh from Xero to pull the latest version before you click Create.

Create

Click Create. The document gets the next docket number, for example DN-00042, and its PDF is ready within a few seconds. You land on the document's own page, where you can print it or change it further. See One delivery.

Still stuck?

Contact support with the docket number if your question is about one document. We answer within one business day.
